march twenty-twenty events

This March is absolutely loaded with awesome events around the area! I've included several in this post to help you plan this month.  I encourage you to try new experiences and to extend yourself out of your comfort zone to explore our amazing town.

March 6th: Dive-In Movie @ the Highlands Pool

Come enjoy a night in the water at the Highlands Pool from 6:30pm-9:00pm. The movie is yet to be announced but is sure to be a crowd pleaser! This is a fantastic opportunity to get the kids out of the house and enjoy some quality family fun. You’ll even get a free bag of popcorn to enjoy when you attend this fun filled community event.

March 7th and March 14th: Summit Charter School Lacrosse Clinics:

Summit Charter School will host 3 lacrosse clinics for boys and girls in grades 3-5 and 6-10. Clinics will take place at the Summit Soccer Field in Cashiers, NC. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the sport. All equipment is provided and there is NO COST for these clinics. This is a fantastic opportunity for kids to try a new sport! Visit Summit's website for more information.

March 14th: Heritage Apple Day @ Cashiers Community Center

The 13th annual Apple Heritage Day will feature special guest Tom Brown, a modern day Johnny Appleseed! His life's work has been to track down heirloom apple trees. Like previous years, Ken Fisher, Trevor Howard and Will Wardowski will be on hand to demonstrate grafting. All attendees will be given a FREE apple tree to take home as well! With snacks, crafts, and more, this event is brought to our community at no cost by the Cashiers Historical Society.

March 17th: St. Patrick’s Day Hike & Trail Work in Panthertown

What better way to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day than with this “green” event! RSVP and then grab your hiking boots to hit the trails in Panthertown Valley for a day of adventure and trail maintenance. This is a fantastic opportunity to become acquainted with Panthertown and learn more about the outstanding natural resource our area has to offer. Visit the Panthertown website for more information- hope to see you there!

March 28th: Cottontail Market @ Smoky Mountain Event Center

One of my personal favorites, the Cottontail Market is held in Waynesville every spring. It features so many incredible artisans, tons of great food, and many other various vendors. It’s my favorite spot to load up on all my spring (and Easter!) entertaining supplies and decor. If you’re a craft show junkie like me, this is a MUST ATTEND event! Visit the event page for more information, admission is usually a few dollars at the door but oh-so-worth it!

March 28th & 29th: Chefs in the House with Bill Smith & Justin Burdett @ Half-Mile Farm

Half-Mile Farm by Old Edwards will be hosting a special Chefs in the House dinner with chefs from Crook's Corner, Bill and Justin. Crook’s Corner is a classic restaurant featuring fresh, seasonally focused Southern cuisine. Crook’s corner continually celebrates and re-imagines the food of the south! This is a ticketed event, so be sure to visit the event page for your tickets and for more information.

I hope you found at least one event you’d like to attend this month, and I hope to see you there! Enjoy the month of March, and may it bring much happiness and many blessings to you and yours!

Warmly,

Kathryn
